Celebrating 20 Years of VPK: Share Your Story with Us

This year marks a major milestone for early learning in Florida as the state celebrates the 20th birthday of the Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Education Program.

Since 2005, the Florida Department of Education’s Division of Early Learning has worked with local coalitions to prepare more than 3.1 million four-year-olds to enter kindergarten ready to learn and succeed.

The Early Learning Coalition of North Florida (ELC) is proud to have supported this mission across Clay, Nassau, Baker, Bradford, Putnam and St. Johns counties. For two decades, the ELC and its contracted primary service provider, Episcopal Children’s Services (ECS), have helped ensure that children and families have access to high-quality early learning opportunities through the VPK program.

Now we want to celebrate your stories. Were you, your child or someone you know part of one of the first VPK classes in 2005? Are you a provider who has been teaching VPK since the beginning? We would love to hear about the lasting impact of VPK in your life or community.

Share your photos, memories or reflections through our quick online form here:

Let’s celebrate 20 years of growing bright futures together.
